Sapajuji (Protector)
Melton, batik, sealskin, bias tape, seed beads, fresh water pearls, bugle beads, abalone, caribou hide
A beaded chest piece based on an amauti design, that invokes connection as protection. This reversible chest piece is a protective garment that strengthens me as an Inuk woman within my cultural line and also spiritually deflects colonial violence and erasure - affirming Inuit women’s power and presence in a highly visible and celebratory way.
Arnait power >> Connection >> Protection.
